Sadhana in the Sun Italy Retreat

Join Oli and I for our first ever international retreat as we lead you through 7 days of practice under the glorious Italian sun in 2024, May 4-10th. Based at the gorgeous YogApulia, enjoy 6 mornings of Mysore-style practice, 4 afternoon workshops, and day excursions to the nearby Adriatic beaches. There will be options for on-site massages should you so wish, as well as plenty of down-time to rest in hammocks, swim in the pool, lounge under olive trees, or visit the local villages. We truly can’t overstate how beautiful this centre is; we visited it as students during our stay with our dear teacher Sarah Durney and were completely blown away by the attention to detail, quality of food, and overall tranquil vibe of the setting.

Please note, YogApulia has 6 rooms, all of which are twins. This means if you wish to come along, you will be sharing with one of your fellow yogis. See this as an opportunity to solidify existing friendships or the potential to build new ones!

Also, this retreat is focussed on self-practice. You stand to benefit the most from our teachings this week if you already practice regularly and on your own, be it at home or in the Mysore room. If you do not have a self-practice, you now have 6 months to start one! You can come along to any of our Mysore classes (every day but Monday) or reach out to us if this is not possible and get advice on how to start a regular practice at home.

Finally, what is this word Sādhanā? As with most Sanskrit, the definition is mercurial but could perhaps be simply boiled down to “a daily devotional practice”. It requires a disciplined surrendering of ego, where one uses tools including asana, pranayama, meditation and chanting daily. This is why self-practice is so important for this week; only one of the morning classes will be led. For the rest, Charlie and I will be helping students one-on-one in the Mysore room as they work through their own sequence and discover new depths of the practice for themselves.
